Photo an Hour January...

When I saw that Stephanie and Meg were going to be hosting a Photo an Hour link up I was super excited... until I remembered how much I've sucked at blogging lately. I figured I would never get around to doing it, but  thanks to Kay posting about it earlier in the week, I was reminded to take the pictures. And lo and behold I actually did something I said I was going to do for once. Go me!

Here's (almost) every hour from yesterday, January 29/14:

 5:30 AM

My first alarm went off at 5:00 am. I turned my lights on to make sure I wouldn't fall back asleep and then spent the next 40 minutes in bed checking Facebook, IG, Twitter, SnapChat, Pinterest, etc. (Basically doing anything I could to avoid getting up). This was my view. And yes, ALL of my Christmas decorations are still up

6:30 AM

Hopped in the shower at 6:20 and by 6:30 it was crunch time to get my hair and makeup done, dressed, and water and coffee packed before leaving for work at 7:10

7:20 AM

I get to work everyday at 7:15 and go through my morning routine of getting the Centre ready for opening. At 7:20 I was just sitting down to quickly check emails before I would be out of my office on the floor for over an hour. (I couldn't get a picture right at 7:30 because that's when I open work for the day)

8:40 AM

It was my turn to take the school aged children to school. I had just finished dropping them off and was on my way back to work.  It was a brisk -21 degrees so thankfully the Centre isn't to far from the school

9:30 AM

Back in my office for a little while  after taking the school agers to school and getting Graycie off to Pre-K

10:30 AM

FINALLY getting a much needed chance to catch up on paperwork and get payroll done

 11:30 AM

Back to the school to pick my Graycie-Bear up from Pre-K. I asked her to smile and this is what I got...

12:30 PM

Quickly ate lunch at home and then went into the office to get caught up on some blog reading. Which never actually happened...

1:30 PM

Ran down to the Pharmacy to pick up some office supplies and print off some pictures for work. Quickly snapped this picture on my walk back to the Centre

2:30 PM

Making my second cup of coffee for the day. Around this time my throat started feeling scratchy and sore and took me back to the days before my tonsils came out where this was an every week occurrence. I was hoping that a hot drink might help (it didn't...)

3:30 PM

Trying to complete some January Goals and make sure I get my daily intake of water. I didn't end up getting the bottle finished because every time I swallowed it was like swallowing razor blades

5:00 PM

I should have been done work around 4:15/4:30 but I've found that when you're the boss your work is never done. I had to make a quick run to the grocery store to grab a few things for today's meals

5:15 PM

Stopped at home quick after the grocery store to grab some work I had taken home with me. Smelling the delicious supper cooking made it really hard to leave to go back to work for my 6:00 staff meeting

6:50 PM

Just finally pulling into the driveway, finally be done work for the day

7:30 PM

Finally got to eat that delicious supper. Only an hour after I'd normally eat supper. I gave Bear some treats and made her do tricks (she's raising her paw in the picture to shake),  and then helped with the supper dishes

8:30 PM

This sickness that was creeping up on me suddenly hit me like a ton of bricks. I snuggled up on the couch with Kirby and we had a three hour nap

11:30 PM

Every bone in my body was aching, and my throat felt like it was on fire, but I finally made myself get off the couch and go to bed. I grabbed some freezies to help my sore throat and a Sprite to help the nauseous feeling. Then it was bedtime for this lady!

I couldn't get the link up box to work but make sure you head on over to Stephanie or Meg's blogs to check out everyone else's Photo an Hour posts. I can't wait to read everyone else's and see how everyone's days compare!

Why You Should Never Tell Your Mom About Your Blog...

I've never shied away from the fact that I have a blog. It was easier to be open about having one so that I wouldn't have to hide the fact that I was taking pictures of my food than trying to hide it from people. Sometimes I question myself on whether it would have been a good idea to make a separate blog IG and Twitter account so people from my teeny tiny hometown wouldn't know about it. But that's a topic for another day. Today I want to talk about why you should never tell your Mom about your blog

I've had this little ole space for over 18 months now. I may not be a consistent blogger yet but someday I'll get there. I also used to blog during College (http://somedaysugottadance.blogspot.ca) and then sporadically until I got this new space. I'm sure my Mom knew about it, even if I didn't directly tell her

My sister Toni also used to blog during her days as a stay at home mom on maternity leave with her first born. She also plans on getting back to it eventually (soon I hope!). A LOT of our conversations revolve around blog posts we've both read, posts of mine, etc.

If Toni and I were talking about something from one of my posts in front of our Mama Bear she would sometimes ask what we were talking about and I would retort that if she read my blog she would understand.  First mistake right there. After that I'd casually mention again how she'd understand if she visited my blog and she'd mention that she would if she knew how. This is the same woman who once asked me how to use "The Google"...

Finally, after the millionth time telling her she should read my blog and her telling me she didn't know how, I bookmarked it on her iPad so she'd easily be able to access it. She started out reading my newest posts (this was back in December) and then one day asked me if there was a way she could read my older posts. *facepalm*. So, I showed her how to access all my old posts. That was my second mistake

Now, I get questioned all.the.time about my blog. The other day I got home from work to have her  tell me that I lied on my blog. I immediately started racking my brain trying to think of what I possibly could have lied about. When I finally asked what she was talking about she told me that I lied that we never had a cat  until after I graduated from high school. "Ummm, seriously?!".  Her direct quote was "Don't you remember Miss. Ellie?'"

A few things that need to be mentioned: First off, I have went almost 27 years thinking that cats name was Alley. As in Alley Cat. Who names a cat Miss. Ellie?! And for another thing, that cat up and decided one day that she had had enough of our family,  packed her things, and moved two blocks over, into the house of a nice couple with no young children. Smart movie Alley Miss. Ellie

Apparently the new family didn't ask any questions about its REAL owners. Jackasses. When I was in elementary school I'd walk past that house with my friends and if I saw the cat I'd say 'Hey, there's my cat!' and my friends would look at each other like this:

dean-what-gif

So, MAMA BEAR, no I don't count that as having a cat. When the cat doesn't even live in the same house as you its kind of hard to call it yours!

I also now feel even guiltier than I did before when I don't blog consistently (aka this entire month) because my Mom asks me why I haven't blogged lately and when I'm going to post again. Ay Caramba

Public Service Announcement: If your Mom doesn't already know about your blog DON'T TELL HER.

But, if she now knows, that just means she is going to be called upon for a guest post every now and again. You're welcome Mama Bear :)

30 Before 30...

I have Facebook to thank for my complete and utter meltdown regarding the fact that I am turning TWENTY-SEVEN this year.  You see, FB likes to remind you that a friends birthday is upcoming. If that friend so chooses it will also show what age they are turning. My cousin Joe's birthday is coming up in February and when I saw 28 in big bold letters I almost shit my pants. When did WE get old?! I swear it was just yesterday that our parents were nearing the age of 30 and now here we are

I started thinking about the fact that Joe turning 28 meant that Toni would be turning 29 this year. 29!. And then. Oh, and then. It hit me. I would be turning 27. Waay closer to 30 than it is to 20. And yet I swear I just turned 21. I certainly don't feel like an almost 27 year old. When I was young and thought of myself at 30 I imagined myself with grey hair, a minivan, and 2.5 kids. Obviously that is nowhere near my life (not a single grey hair thankyouverymuch)

So in the midst of my freak out I started writing out my bucket list. That thing is HUGE. As I've said, I'm a huge dreamer. I decided to cut it down into a 30 Before 30 list and then go from there. So without further adieu, my 30 Before 30 list:

K's 30 Before 30 List
To be completed by July 24 2017

1| Go one whole month without shopping

2| Do something that scares me

Anyone else have a 30 Before 30 list?

Throwback Thursday...

The original first line of this post went something like this "Sorry for not posting all week..." before I remembered my plans NOT to apologize when life gets in the way of blogging.  I haven't even had a chance to read any of my faves this week so I will be doing some major catch up this weekend! I do have about 10 different posts in various stages of drafts right now that I plan on working on this weekend to so next week I should be a little more prepared

Anyways, on to the point of this post. I hate Facebook and have for a looong time. The last time I updated my status was December 9th. The only reason I even keep it around is to stay in touch with family that lives out of Province and to post pictures for said family. While uploading some pictures from Christmas I started going through my photo albums and was horrified to see some of the pictures from back in my partying days. I went on a major deleting spree. Which then led me to the old notes section

I remember being in College and doing a questionnaire with 100 questions instead of doing homework. My roommates,  friends from back home, and I were always 'tagging' each other in these notes and we didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings if we didn't answer the questions

Looking back on these notes made me cringe but also gave me good material for a blog post. For the next few Thursdays, until I run out of notes to make fun of myself, I am going to post the old notes for your viewing pleasure. Feel free to laugh. I know I did

Here's a '25 Facts About Me' from waaaay back in February of 2009 (5 years ago already!). writing in bold  is 26 year old me snarking on 21 year old K. Oh to be young again...

Cuz everyone else is doing it...

February 7, 2009 at 9:27am
Rules: Once you've been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you. At the end, choose 25 people to be tagged. You have to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you.

To do this, go to the “notes” tab on your profile page, click on "write new note," paste these instructions into the note, type your 25 random things, tag 25 people (in the upper right hand corner, then click "publish."

1. The reason I don't plan on having kids (at least for a looong time) is b/c I am selfish and think that I wouldn't be able to do all the things I want to do and see all the things I wanna see

It's called GRANDPARENTS. I'm pretty sure they exist for parents to pawn their kids off and go on vacations, right?

2. I refuse to eat anything that swims and absolutely can't stand the smell of seafood

3. My favorite place in the world is Italy

Gawddd K. We all know that my favourite place on earth is NYC

4. I was sooo drunk on my grad day that I hardly even remember it

5. I miss my Mister like crazy and can't believe it's almost been 2 years :(

7 years :(

6. I have baby names picked out but still don't know if I ever want to have kids

Still have animal baby names on a note on my phone. But at least now my (possibly) future dogs kids won't be named Heaven, Reese or Christian *shudders*

7. I pray every night before I go to sleep but have only gone to church probably twice in my life (Kids Club does NOT count)

8. One of my favorite restaurants is in Gruene, TX and I can't wait to go back there

I'm still waiting.  coughMamaBearcough

Side Note: My Mama Bear now reads my blog. Hi MOM!

9. I am addicted to Advil and take it even if I am not in pain

No worries people, I no longer have a drug problem...

10. I wish I was closer to some of my family that I don't get to see very often

Lets just write a note about it and hope that somehow the situation rectifies itself

11. I can't even count the number of times I have been told I look like my cousin Starley, and people often assume that I am my auntie Cindy's daughter

12. I have toured a concentration camp in Germany and just thinking about it still gives me the chills

OF COURSE IT DOES!

13. I plan on getting 2 German Shepherd's and a cat and naming them after the characters in To Kill A Mockingbird, one of my favorite books

Were hipsters a thing back then? Though I do still love the name Atticus...

14. I miss how much easier life was when I was in College

AKA when Mom and Dad paid for everything? Me too, K. Me too

15. I have been told before that me and my sister look just like twins, yet most people can't believe we are even sisters

Opinions people? My almost 29 year old sister regularly gets mistaken for a high schooler at her weekend job so if you say we look alike I'll take it!

16. I have thought about moving back to the Hat or trying somewhere new, but I can't leave Audie-Rae b/c I am afraid of how much I would miss

And now there's a Graycie to add to the mix. Thanks a lot Toni for popping out babies for me to fall in love with. Bitch

17. Pretty much all of my clothes are black... I am working on improving that

Grey counts as a colour, right?

18. People always assume that my cousin Krista is my auntie... and I never correct themm!

Let's just thank god she's not and leave it at that...

19. When I was younger I used to hate when my Grandpa called me Chigle, but now I love it (so much that I am getting a tattoo of it) and wish more than anything that he was still around to call me it :(

Oh hey there freshly inked tattoo number 2

20. I hate chocolate, except for around the holidays (Turtles and Cadbury mini eggs!)

You haven't changed a bit, have you?

21. I love country music... and don't care what anyone thinks about that

Still don't care. Considering my current favourite song is 'Let It Go' from the Frozen soundtrack I think its safe to say I won't be asked for my opinion on music anytime soon

22. People always think that I am more Metis than I actually am

Between age 21 and 26 my skin just keeps getting paler and paler. If this keeps up I might start to see the resemblance between myself and my sister... HA

23. I don't visit my Grandpa Angie near as much as I should and I plan on fixingg that right away

I miss him coming up with different nicknames for where I was at in my life. Working Girl is probably my all time fav. Yep, my nickname was Working Girl. And not THAT kind of job. Because I had A job and he could no longer call me School Girl.

24. I miss family vacations with my family

Oh, I thought you meant family vacations with your friends. Silly me

25. I have done soo many of these types of things before I probably could have came up with a hundred more answers

GET A LIFE!

That was fun! But 'talking' to yourself is hard. And weird. Do you say us? Or we? Or I? Or you? I'm pretty sure I used everyone one

Anyone else able to laugh at how completely ridiculous they were back in the day?

January Goals...

I am and always will be a list maker. Packing for a trip? Every single item that I plan on packing gets written on a list so I don't forget anything. Think of an awesome blog post idea? Type a quick note in my phone so I don't forget. On any given day you can find at least 10 sticky notes strewn across my desk with reminders for myself and my lists of things to do. I even have a list of baby names on my phone (even though I'm not sure if I ever want kids...). Every time I hear a name I like I write it on the list. It's just in my nature to put pen to paper.  If I think it it gets written down. I've found that if I don't write it down it gets stored away somewhere in the back of my mind, never to be 'seen' again. So when it comes to monthly goals I want to make sure I have them written down in hopes that this will help me actually accomplish them. There is nothing better than being able to cross something off on a to do list! I'm very hopeful that this month will be the month that I can complete ALL my goals. What you do in January sets the tone for the rest of the year so if I can get everything off my goals list accomplished then that will hopefully make this year more organized and less stressful. So lets get to my goals:

  1. Win my DietBet game
  2. (Successfully) Complete No Spend January (more on this in a separate post)
  3. Make a monthly budget for 2014
  4. Finish 2011 Project Life
  5. Order Dad's Fathers Day present FROM LAST YEAR
  6. Send out two forms of snail mail
  7. Organize pictures on my old laptop and (finally) put away in storage
  8. Clean out spare bedroom # 3
  9. Wake up every morning when my damn alarm tells me to!
  10. Stay up to date on 2014's Project Life
  11. Drink 2 Nalgene bottles of water a day at work

They may not seem major but they are things that I definitely need to work on (see # 4. I'm horrible!...)

What are your goals for January?

December Goals Update...

So if you read my Goals Shmoals... post a couple weeks back then you will already have had some insight into how well achieving my December Goals went (aka shitastically)

1. Candy Cane made an appearance approximately 24 times. A couple of days she made appearances twice -  simply because the girls hadn't been at my parents house the previous day. My Mama Bear had to step in a few times while I was gone away on the weekends to make sure Candy Cane found a spot but I still say this was achieved!

2. The 2nd Annual Cookie Exchange with the Beaver Cove Town Council ladies was a resounding success and I already can't wait for next years!

3. Ha. HA HA HA HA. That's what I think about that. Considering I didn't work out even once.  BUT today marks the first day of my new lifestyle change so at least there's that?

4. Insert maniacal laughter here. I wrapped ALL my presents on Christmas morning (and ALL of my Mama Bears for my nieces on Christmas Eve). I also was still Christmas shopping on the last Sunday before Christmas. Epic fail right here

5. If I bought the gingerbread house and had full intentions of building the gingerbread house with them but instead was stuck wrapping their presents, that counts. Right? (say YES!) I even let Candy Cane take the credit for the gingerbread house. Bitch owes me $9.99

6. Catch up on SOA I did. I spent all day on Dec 29th getting caught up on the current Season of SOA. And then when I got to the last episode I wished I had never watched a single episode. My heart is seriously broken over a television show. I've decided I'm not going to watch the final season at all and am just going to watch Seasons 1-5 and pretend that everything is ok. #JaxandTaraforlife

7. Soooo I may have totally forgotten about this goal altogether. Easter supper maybe?

8. Yeahhhhhh..... That definitely didn't happen. BUT I did blog a total of 13 times in December which was a HUGE improvement from the 4 days in November. So in my books its a win

Check back tomorrow for my January Goals. Even if its just to laugh at them knowing I will probably only achieve half...
